Considered by many as one of the most beautiful places in India, the Valley of Flowers tucked into the hills of the Garhwal Himalayas is a nature lover's dream come true. During the months of July and August, innumerable flowers of various shapes, sizes and hues adorn the valley creating a veritable multicolored carpet. The valley is home to over 300 Colorful species including Morinas, Himalayan Blue Poppy, Brahma Kamal, Potentilla, Aster, Lilies etc.
British mountaineer Frank Smythe stumbled upon the Valley of Flowers in 1931. ‘In all my mountain wandering,’ he wrote, ‘I have not seen a more beautiful valley where the human spirit may find repose'. It’s in the core zone of Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve. A colossal expanse of 87.5 sq kms and myriad alpine flowers makes this place a colorful paradise. Perched at an altitude of 12070 feet above sea level, Bhyundar Valley is the home to this surreal place.
It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Itinerary
Day 1
Day train to Dehradun from New Delhi.
Those joining us at Delhi should report us New Delhi Station at 1400 hrs. We leave by 12055 Dehradun Janshatabdi Express.
Arrival at Dehradun by 2110 hrs.
Dehradun has an airport. You may join us directly at Dehradun as well.
(Do get in touch with us to make your travel arrangements from your home town to New Delhi / Dehradun).
Day 2
Proceed to Auli (289 kms / 9-10 hours) by road.
This picturesque drive will be alongside River Alaknanda. We will take small photography break to see the confluence of two rivers at Devprayag. Other “Prayags” that we will see enroute would be Rudraprayag, Karnaprayag and Nandprayag.
(The typical itineraries to Valley of Flowers have stay at Joshimath. This itinerary of Foliage Outdoors however includes stay at Auli as it offers beautiful views of Himalayan Snowclad peaks)
Overnight at Auli.
Day 3
The day starts early with a drive to the small town of Govindghat. We begin our trek to Ghangaria from here. It is a beautiful and a long walk along the Pushpawati River.

Day 4
Wake up early and begin the trek to the most beautiful Valley of Flowers! This is an enjoyable and scenic walk. Stop along the way to take images and enjoy the majestic beauty of the snow-capped peaks as well as of the green valleys of the Himalayas. Enjoy lunch (packed) inside the National Park.
Return to Ghangaria campsite by late afternoon.
(A continuous walk would complete the trek in 4-odd hours. However, we take many breaks along the trek to see and photograph numerous species of beautiful flowers which is the purpose of this trek . Hence we return by late afternoon to our Campsite after having enjoyed the most magnificent of Himalayan experiences).
Overnight at Ghangaria
Day 5
Today we visit the holy Hemkund / Hemkunt Sahib. We start our trek early and reach Hemkund which is a glacial lake surrounded by seven mountain peaks. It is located at an elevation of 15,197 feet.
This trek route is more difficult than of Valley Of Flowers but definitely worth the efforts as we will have the opportunity to see the elusive Brahmakamal, a very beautiful flower that’s not seen in the Valley.
Overnight at Ghangaria.
Day 6
Today we trek down to Govindghat and drive to visit Badrinath temple. Going to Badrinath will be dependent on prevailing weather and road conditions on this day.
After Badrinath visit, proceed to Auli.
Overnight at Auli.
Day 7
Day at leisure. Visit Auli top by Ropeway and go for a leisure walk to Gurson Bugyal.
The views of snow-clad peaks from Auli top are breathtaking and offer many photo opportunities.
Overnight at Auli.
Day 8
Proceed to Rishikesh. Evening at leisure.
Overnight at Rishikesh.
Day 9
Free day. You may explore Ram Jhoola, Lakshman Jhoola and see evening Ganga Aarti on the banks of Ganges.
Proceed to Dehradun by road.
Overnight travel to New Delhi.
Day 10
Arrive at Delhi.
Time to say goodbye to your fellow travelers till we meet again to share the images and memories of the time spent in the mighty Himalayas.
