This exotic trek route encompasses the mountainous vistas of both the Kullu & Manali valley, traverses the high altitude pass of ‘HAMTA’ ( literally meaning, at the top of a solid heap of rocks & Snow) and leads to Chhatru, and the breathtaking Chandertal Lake (The Lake of Moon). This route is a well known ancient shepherds route that is the shortest route to reach Lahaul and Spiti and descend into the Kaza valley from Manali. The region is rich in flora and fauna, which is a delight for a naturalist and also provides unspoiled and unparalleled opportunities for photographers. An unforgettable trek, this route is known to very few trekkers and foreigners and is an experience of a lifetime.
Chandra Tal:
Chandra Tal, is situated at an altitude of about 14,110 Ft. in the Himalayas. Mountains of screed overlook the lake on one side, and a magnificent cirque presents a view on the other. The name of the lake originates from its crescent shape, situated in the Spiti part of the Lahul and Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh. The lake is situated on the Samudra Tapu plateau, which overlooks the Chandra River. It is one of two high-altitude wetlands of India which have been designated as Ramsar site.

Itinerary
Day 1
Overnight travel to Manali. Travel time 12 hrs approximate.
The volvo services will help you make this long overnight journey comfortable.
Day 2
Arrive at Manali in the morning.
Check in to the the hotel. Day at leisure.

Day 3
Trek time : 2 - 3 Hours | Drive time : 45 Minutes | Trek difficulty level : Moderate | Altitude : 3150 mt.
Post an early breakfast, we drive to the dam site at Jobri which is the start point of our trek.
Today’s trek will be a gradual walk through the slopes covered with grasslands and along the river Alain Nullah.
Chhika is a beautiful campsite, from where one can see Tokru-Shakru peaks and views of the Kullu valley.

Day 4
Trek time : 4-5 Hours | Trek difficulty level : Moderate | Altitude : 3700 mt.
Today’s trek will be adventurous through the boulders and along the mountain side. The trail till Juara will be a bit tricky to negotiate due to boulders, streams and cascading waterfalls along the rocky cliffs. Juara is a beautiful, scenic and a shepherd’s paradise valley with snow clad rocks on one side and river on the other.
The hike further to Bhallu -Ka-Dehra will be steep and tiring. At the same time, it will reward you with the beautiful views of the Himalayan flora and fauna. The place is called as Ballu- Ka- Dhera, as this route is used by the Himalayan Black and Brown bears during the summers.
Lunch will be en-route. Reach Bhallu -Ka-Dehra by evening.

Day 5
Trek time : 6-7 Hours | Trek difficulty level : Challenging | Altitude : 3300 mt.
Post breakfast, we set out on our tough and longest trek route , rewarding you with the most scenic views along the way. Today, we climb to the highest point of our trek - Hamta Pass (14,103 Ft.). Climb to Hamta will be steep and challenging but at the same time rewarding, as you have an up close view of Deo Tibba (20,015 Ft.) and Indrasan (20,410 Ft.) peaks. Spend some time at Hamta Pass and rest to gear up for the descent to Sheagoru. Sheagoru, is a very cold place as it is adjacent to the river and the glacial snout.
This place is used as a stop over and grazing pasture for the Shepard’s who enter into the Kullu and Lahaul valley.
Lunch will be en-route. Reach Sheagoru by late evening.
Overnight camping at Sheagoru.
Day 6
Trek time : 3 - 4 Hours | Drive Time : 2 - 3 Hours | Altitude : 4270 mt.
Post breakfast, we set out on our last leg of the trek. Today’s trek is quite easy, along the river and dominated by vast landscapes of Pir Panjal and Spiti mountain ranges. Reach Chhatru by lunch time. Packed lunch at Chhatru. Post lunch, we drive (2 hours one way) to Chandra Tal via Kunzum Pass (14,930 Ft.).

Day 7
Drive Time : 5 - 6 Hours |
Post breakfast leave for Manali. Spend some time in Mall road before you board the Volvo for Delhi.
Day 8
Reach Delhi. Time to say goodbye to your fellow trekkers.

Why Us?
Cancellation Policy :
A) Rs.4000/- if the cancellation is made with more than 30 days (excluding the day of departure of ecotour) remaining for ecotour / camp departure date.
B) 33 % of the regular ecotour / camp charges will be charged if the cancellation is made more than 15 days (excluding the day of departure of ecotour / camp) prior to the departure date of the ecotour / camp.
C) 66 % of the regular ecotour / camp charges will be charged if the cancellation is made more than 7 days (excluding the day of departure of ecotour / camp) prior to the departure date of the ecotour / camp.
D) No refund if the cancellation is made with 7 or less than 7 days (excluding the day of departure of ecotour) remaining for camp departure date.
E) No refund will be payable in case of “No Show”.
F) In case the participant(s) have booked air tickets / railway tickets / bus tickets or hired a taxi in for the ecotour (or its extension), through us, then the refund paid by the airline authorities / railway authorities / bus operator / taxi operator shall be forwarded to the participants after deducting the processing charges, in case of cancellation made for the ecotour by the participant or ecotour being cancelled by Foliage Outdoors.
